How to remove your makeup effectively

Hey beautiful,

As much as we love putting on makeup, proper makeup removal is also the most important step that we should not skip.

We usually tend to wear wakeup for several occasions and let it be on our skin for hours. But at the end of the day we should always make sure to remove our makeup to let our skin breathe.

Improper removal or not removing makeup may cause irritation, acne, skin damage because of the chemicals of the products. So we should always make sure to clean off the makeup very well may it just be a compact, BB cream, heavy makeup or whatsoever.

There are several ways you can remove your makeup with. But double cleansing your face helps a lot to clear your skin from any dirt, sweat, sebum etc.

Double cleansing is a popular and effective Korean method of cleansing your face which involves two steps basically.

1. To cleanse your face with an oil based cleanser to remove makeup or just your skin that went through the day. This helps to remove any existing makeup, creams, oil and dirt.

2. To cleanse your face with a water based cleanser by lathering and cleansing throughout. It helps to remove all the impurities and clears out your pores and skin.

Like I said, my makeup removal regime generally involves of two steps,

Step 1:

I usually remove my makeup with any of the products mentioned below.

Here are four ways I use to remove my makeup.

1. Makeup cleanser.

Makeup cleansing lotion

A makeup cleanser can be used by taking a pump or two pumps of the product and gently massaging in circular motion so that it removes all your makeup and cleans your face. After you’re done massaging you see all your makeup has come off. Then you can wash it off with some water.

So as by considering the double cleansing method, after removing my makeup with this, I then take a mild face wash and wash my face with it. This way it totally removes any left over makeup, dirt or any oil on my face.

2. Micellar water.

Micellar water

I swear by micellar water when it comes to makeup removal. I take a few drops of micellar water on a cotton pad and gently rub it over all my face. It removes makeup with so ease. It has no alcohol and no fragrance. The best thing about this is it doesn’t cause any irritation or itchiness when used on my skin. It is so gentle and soothening. It has two variants out of which one is the water based and the other one is oil based.

3. Makeup Remover Wipes.

Makeup removing Wipes comes in handy when we’re out or in no water zone. You can simply swipe off your makeup with one or two makeup wipes based on the amount of makeup you wore. Always keep some makeup wipes in your bag as you might not know when you would need it.

4. Coconut/almond oil.

Coconut oil

If you don’t want any chemicals on your face, you can go back to the traditional ways of cleaning your skin and that is with oil. Oil not only helps your skin remove makeup and dirt, it also moisturizes your skin and makes it glow. Oil helps to remove that transfer proof lip color and heavy eye makeup in no time. You can also use almond oil, jojoba oil, olive oil and more.

Step 2:

After the makeup removal, I usually wash my face with a mild cleanser to get rid of oiliness or any left over makeup. This step is most essential to clear out the skin.

Here are few of my favourite face cleansers,

Biotique Bio Honey Foaming Face cleanser

Neutrogena liquid mild facial cleanser

Cetaphil gentle skin cleanser

After I’m done with cleaning my face, I apply a generous amount of moisturizer on my face as the thorough cleansing dries out the face. Moisturizing is a very important step when it comes to skincare and it shouldn’t be skipped or neglected. I, then end up using a lip balm to prevent from dry and chapped lips.

Moisturizers that I love using,

Biotique Bio Morning Nectar Sunscreen Ultra Soothing Face Lotion, SPF 30+

Nivea soft light moisturizer with vitamin E

Lakmé peach milk soft creme

Lipbalms that I love using,

Lakme lip love chapstick

Maybelline New York baby lips

Himalaya Lip care

I hope this helps you. Do follow to get more updates of my posts and like it if you do.

Until next time,

Xoxo 🙂
